I heard the funniest thing on the radio this morning...

Def Leppard August 6th at the...................................
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    Eastlake Ballpark!! lmao!

I have NOOOOOOOOOOOOO idea where that is other than I assume in Eastlake - I think it's home to some minor league team.

The best part is the dj's were building it up like OMG DL is coming to town!!!!!!! And then they mention the venue. How pathetic! Sometimes it's really time for these guys to hang up their hats and find something else to do. Or at least play under a different name. Maybe they should fight, split up and then have two tours under the same name with different members.

    Maybe...
I'm just not into seeing bands that are so far gone they now sound HORRIBLE. And everyone stands around and cheers them on b/c they're playing that song they recorded 25 years ago. Like ummm... Motley Crue. And not just to pick on Motley Crue cuz there are many out there that think they can hit those notes they hit when they were in their 20's. I would rather listen to a cd and remember how they used to sound than to have my memory tainted with how they sound now. This mostly falls on the singer.

I'm not saying ALLLLLLLL are this way because there are some out there that are as good or better in their 50's as they were in their 20's. This band is just not one of them. I'm guessing the ones that still sound good are NOT playing the Eastlake Ballpark.

I don't know, a lot of the bands that do still sound good will be playing the country fair circuit just due to their time being over and their style not being a major draw anymore. Kansas are the kings of the county fair, and they actually sound pretty good still. But they don't draw like they used to, so they go this other route. Remember, you are hitting Motley with these comments, and saying they sound like crap, but they are playing major arenas. It is drawing power and sales that dictate where you play, not skill and ability. Crue would be doing the minor bars if it wasn't for the "original line-up" shtick and the promise of boobs. But ticket sales are good even though people seem to forget that the last time Crue toured, only ONE member was not there. But this time they are promoting it properly.

Also, DL would be doing the MAJOR arenas if they came out with a tour featuring Pete Willis and doing only stuff off of the first three albums. People would flock to see that.

    That's true... people would.

Actually we were just discussing the fact that Motley Crue played arenas. It's not right - but I know the people who bought tickets - the yuppies that are trying to regain their youth, their young children they drug there, the die-hard fans, and then of course those that feel obligated b/c they are a fan and feel this will be their "last chance to see the original lineup". You would think everyone would learn from the Kiss scam. I just couldn't seem to spend my hard earned money to listen to that man sing. If it were in a small club at least I could console myself with being able to see Nikki sweat. But in a big arena - all I would have is that voice in my head.

ok its Def Leppard AND Bryan Adams playing TOGETHER on this tour. and yes they are playing all the minor league ballparks across the US. These ballparks BARELY seat 2000 or so per venue.

I personally would like to go see it myself but BRYAN ADAMS?!?!

I always enjoyed DL and if the weathers good I may go see them, Who knows? Motley shocked the crap outta me though! So maybe I'll get another pleasant suprise?

I don't know, it's kind of cool in a way. On the Behind The Music with AC/DC, Malcom Young said that he and the band had made enough money that they were fine forever now. But they still plan to carry on no matter what. If they ended up playing in a tiny bar to 5 people, then he is fine with that. He is playing now out of love for just playing, and for being in a band with his brother and friends. Maybe Leppard is of the same mindset. They obviously don't need the money, so if they are playing for the sheer love of playing, and they are able to take the show to wherever they please, then more power to them. It is the stuff like Steve Summers on the new tour that is ridiculous. He is trying to squeeze everything he can out of 15 minutes. Leppard are just out there playing for whoever for the love of it, I would guess.

Bryan Adams... I didn't pay attention to that the first time I heard the promo. Then last night I was listenin to a different radio station and they were all pumped about Bryan Adams. I sat there is disbelief. They really can't be touring together. That's just not right. Next thing you know Aretha Franklin's gonna be touring with Slayer.

If Leppard plays by me at a minor ballpark, I actually might go to that...believe it or not.

Weren't both DL and Bryan Adams super hits due to Mutt Lange? I don't think that they are all that different to be honest with you.
